Fondant Covered Cake

The only cakes I've ever baked have come from a box mixture which is fine and those cakes taste damn good but i wanted to try something new...a white chocolate mud cake. It wasn't the easiest process and did take a bit of time but the recipe i used produce a deliciously dense but moist cake perfect for covering in fondant. I also gave white chocolate ganache a go which was much harder to apply than i thought but i got there in the end.
I couldn't quite bring myself to fork out $200 for a cake decorating class I'd been considering, it included everything i wanted to know about covering a cake with fondant, making flowers, covering a board with fondant and stacking cakes etc. As some of you will know by reading my other posts i love leaning new things but i hate paying to learn and would rather teach myself trough trial and error, so that's what i did here. I thought id give it a go first and if i was complete rubbish then id pay for the class as it turns out I'm actually not too bad, with a little help from some you tube tutorials and a whole Saturday to play around in the kitchen this was the outcome.

Stay tuned for a collection of my latest cupcakes coming soon!
